Important Information from the USC BAA: Justin Eugene Carr 2.22.13

To our Family and Friends,

As some of you may know, Darrell and I lost our son Justin on Friday. He called me from school at 3:10 pm before his swim practice very happy to say that he was "getting ready to jump in the pool with his phone :)" and to tell me that his friend Molly was going with us to see the production of Hairspray. I learned that he and his friends were also dancing and singing to his favorite Beyonce's "End of Time" before they dove into the pool.

Justin, our little 6'3" Renaissance Man has been our angel since birth 16 years ago. However, one hour later, the shift in our life changed forever. I received a call that something had happened . When we got to the hospital, we learned that although the coaches, paramedics and doctors tried everything posthaste, he did not recover from the sudden Cardiomyopathy (preliminary report). Due to this aftermath of learning the news, Darrell suffered a heart attack while at the hospital. He is doing much better and should be released tomorrow.

Our hearts are full and we are grateful for your love and support. Please keep us in your prayers.
I know that some of you have tried to call and connect you know things are hectic and we appreciate your concern.

Attached is a news clip and partial note from his school. Also, Justin was a leader in the BLACC at school Harvard Westlake and had a successful event just two weeks ago. The clip is also attached.

From His School
It is with profound sadness that I inform you of the tragic loss of our student and a member of HW’s 11th grade, Justin Carr. Justin died unexpectedly late this afternoon.

It is impossible for me to summarize all that Justin was in just a few sentences. Scholar, athlete, singer, actor, ebullient child, and a charming presence in every situation. He was an extraordinary young man by any measure.

At 8 a.m. on Monday morning, and on both campuses, we will convene assemblies, during which we will share more information and collectively mourn the loss of Justin.

Here is the link to the video of Mr. Jackson's speech filmed two weeks ago where Justin introduced the guest speaker.
