Be Active Alumni
When I played basketball at USC in the 80’s, I was in the best shape of my life. Granted, we had basketball practice for at least 2 hours everyday, weight training 2-3x per week and I was playing a sport that I loved.
Today, I have to work diligently to maintain balance in my life and stay in good physical condition. The good news for me is that I love to exercise. Since I do not play basketball anymore I’ve found several activities that I really enjoy including spinning, weight training, hiking and yoga. Exercise should not make you angry or be something that you dread. Believe it or not, you can make exercise FUN!
Our Homecoming Celebration and the holiday season are right around the corner. This is the time of year that we over-indulge, abuse our bodies and make promises to ourselves that we do not keep. I want to challenge you to think about an activity that you would like to participate in and get moving. Call a friend and instead of going to happy hour invite them to participate with you in this activity. Do not put this off until Monday or until 2010, make it happen today.
Over the next several months I will share encouraging healthy tips with you and organize exercise excursions so that we can all Be Active Alumni.
